Tunisia face elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup following a 1-0 defeat to Australia on Saturday afternoon.

The Carthage Eagles put up an impressive performance in their first game in the competition against Denmark which ended in a 0-0 draw.

The North Africans were however outplayed this time around by the Socceroos.

Australia lost their first game 4-1 to holders Les Blues of France and know another defeat would end their World Cup with a game to spare.

Mitchell Duke fired home the winning goal from an excellent header on 23 minutes.

Tunisia improved in the second half but struggled to break down a resolute Australia defence.

The Carthage Eagles are bottom of Group D with one point from two matches.

They will need to beat France in their last group game to have a chance of progressing to the Round of 16.
