The Atlas Lions of Morocco reached the Round of 16 at the World Cup for the first time following a 2-1 win against Canada, reports PNO Sports.
First-half goals from Hakim Ziyech and
Youssef En-Nesyri helped the North Africans beat their already eliminated opponent.
Nayef Aguerd scored an own goal late in the first half to give Canada hope but they were unable find the equaliser after the break.
Morocco secure top spot in Group F with with seven points following two wins and a draw from three games.
Croatia, who held Belgium to a 0-0 draw finished in second position.
Morocco will now play the runners-up in Group E – either Spain, Japan, Costa Rica or Germany – with that group being concluded on Thursday evening.
