FC Porto coach Sergio Conceicao has said Zaidu Sanusi has what it takes to reach the top of the game.
After some uncertainties last season that stirred speculations he may be forced out of the Portuguese giants, the Super Eagles defender has bounced back in style to keep his place in Porto starting XI.
The 25-year-old Zaidu started Saturday’s 3-0 win over Sporting Lisbon as table toppers Porto racked up their third win in as many games.
Conceicao said he has been pleased with Zaidu, who can continue to make progress in his career.
“He has what I think a player should have as a basis to evolve & progress, he is very humble,” the Porto coach remarked.
“When listening to what we have to say, when dedicating himself 100% to each training session, that’s how you get better today than you were yesterday.”
The Porto coach went on to defend some of the rough edges around the game of the leftback.
“Zaidu does 1300 metres at high intensity and is criticised.
“He had one or more bad decisions, but he is a player with a very good attitude in training and games,” he said.
“He was playing in the district leagues three years ago and people don’t realise that.”
