Kelechi Nwakali’s coach at new Spanish club, Jose Gomes, has praised the quality of the Super Eagles midfielder.
Nwakali, 24, joined Spanish Segunda Division side SD Ponferradina as a free agent after his contract was cancelled by Huesca in the closing weeks of last season.
He was unveiled by the club this week.
Gomes has recounted the past exploits of Nwakali, while also talking about his strong points.
“At the U17 World Cup, he (Nwakali) was the best player and it was not an accident,” Gomes told the club’s official website.
“He is very intelligent, he knows how to take up space, he has good passes, dribbles well and delivers good pull-outs.”
Nwakali was sacked by another Spanish Segunda Division club, SD Huesca in March.
The 23-year-old fell out with the club after returning late from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in February.
He has previously played for Arsenal, VVV Venlo, MVV Maastricht, Porto and Alcorcon.
