Alex Iwobi

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has described Nigerian midfielder Alexander Iwobi as Everton’s most creative player.

Iwobi has scored one goal and provided six assists in 15 league appearances for the Toffees this season.

“I think Frank’s biggest hindrance that he’s got at the moment is a lack of creativity and goals,” Ferdinand said on his Rio Ferdinand presents FIVE podcast.

“McNeil’s not scoring, Gordon’s gone off the boil a bit, Iwobi’s their most creative player and he’s playing in midfield, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is carrying too many injuries.

“They got Maupay who never really scored goals for Brighton in a team that created a lot of chances; he’s now gone to a team that doesn’t create a lot of chances.

“So it’s difficult; time will tell with Frank, I hope he doesn’t get sacked.”

The league has seen five managers sacked in just over three months of the 2022-2023 Premier League campaign.
