Immediate past Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George will take charge at Nigeria Premier Football League club Rivers United.

The appointment, according to reports has been ratified by  Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara.

Finidi George, 54-year-old will be unveiled by the Port Harcourt club on Thursday.

Rivers United have been searching for a new head coach following the sacking of long-standing tactician Stanley Eguma towards the end of last season.

Eguma’s assistant Evans Ogenyi took charge of the team for the remainder of the campaign, PNO Sports reports.

Former Ajax winger Finidi led Enyimba to win the NPFL championship the previous season before he was appointed Super Eagles coach in May.

PNO Sports reports that Finidi George resigned his appointment as Super Eagles head coach after the NFF decided to appoint a foreign coach to boss him following a 1-1 home draw with South Africa and a shock loss to Benin in 2026 World Cup qualifiers. READ ALSO:
