Joe Aribo has said he is very grateful to former manager Steven Gerrard and teammate Jermaine Defoe for helping shape his career.
Aribo scored his first Premier League goal for Southampton last weekend after he had polished his act at Scottish giants Rangers under Gerard with Defoe as teammate.
“I learnt a lot (from Gerard), even how he carries himself,” Aribo was quoted by DAILY ECHO.
‘I love how he carries himself especially when you know how big and important he is.
“He’s so relaxed, easy going.
“He was good for me.”
The Nigerian called Defoe ‘Uncle’ at Rangers and he said he benefitted from playing alongside the vastly experienced striker.
“I speak to him all the time, I want to thank him for everything,” Aribo said.
